A gut worn down by antibiotics and medication
Meera had recently finished a course of antibiotics, and she takes long-term medication. Both can irritate the gut lining. On her intake survey she rated unexplained weight gain 4 out of 5 and difficulty losing weight 5 out of 5.
What went in, and why
Recent antibiotics and long-term medication can wear at the gut lining, so repair comes first. We used B. infantis 35624, B. longum BB536, L. plantarum and L. rhamnosus GG with sodium butyrate, zinc L-carnosine and quercetin. To support these strains we added partially hydrolysed guar gum, a fibre that feeds them with little gas. She began with half a sachet a day with breakfast so her gut could adjust.
What we observed: around day 5 she wrote that her acidity and bloating had gone.
Next we move to L. rhamnosus GG, B. longum and L. fermentum with curcumin, vitamin C and zinc, supported by guar gum and inulin. The aim is to calm an overactive immune response rather than push it harder.
What we observed: this phase is still to come.
What was reported
Acidity and bloating gone
“My acidity and bloating have gone”
She also wrote that after lunch she felt good for the rest of the day.

The evidence
Around day 5 she wrote that her acidity and bloating had gone and that she felt good after lunch. These are first-week reports. She began a new diet plan and cut back on tea in the same days, so we will follow her over the coming weeks. Treatment is still on.
Curious what your gut is doing?
Programmes begin with the same gut test. Your plan is built from your own results.
